Swallow My Words, Taste My Thoughts: Bronx Underground needs your help

charlietoinfinity:

I’m not going to go into detail, because its not my place to do so, but an organization that I truly love and respect called The Bronx Underground needs your help. I’ve always had faith in the kids that come out to BXUG shows. Faith that they came out to shows regardless of the bands playing, but for the sole purpose of supporting music and the bronx underground. Unfortunately my faith in most of these kids is now gone. Attendance for BXUG shows has decreased dramatically, because the company has been forced to stop booking heavy bands. Please, continue to come out to their shows and restore my faith in the kids that consider themselves part of the bronx scene. It would be a shame to see a group of people like Adam, Anita, and all their staff have to stop doing what they love just because a specific style of bands are no longer able to play shows for them. Please continue to support local and underground music. Don’t turn your back on a company that was FORCED to make a certain decision. They’ve been around for far too long, and have worked way too hard to have to hang up their shoes. Bands and kids who love these bands NEED the bronx underground.

Please reblog this if you can. Maybe even add one of your favorite memories from a bronx underground show. Mine is The Bride Wore Black’s CD release show last june.

Love and respect,

-d

True story! I’ve only been to two BXUG shows, one of them being said The Bride Wore Black show last June. The other one was tonight with This Condition. Tonight there were probably less than half the amount of kids as the show I attended last year. This company books lots of local talent and it’d be a shame for it to come to an end.

Favorite memory:
Tonight a band called Treephort played. I have no idea how to begin explaining their show. I walked into the venue and on the stage I saw one guy in an orange jumpsuit and another guy in a shirt and underwear, both men middle-aged. During the show, the two guys made out several times. The guy in the underwear took off his shirt and was wearing suspenders attached to his underwear. He gave himself wedgies. The other guy gave him wedgies. He humped the floor. He pretended to give blow jobs to the other guy and to kids in the crowd. He squirted something out of a douche bag into his mouth and into the audience. He put the douche bag in his underwear. Mind you, all of this was happening in a church. I watched the reactions of some of the people in the crowd. I enjoyed watching the members of This Condition’s reactions. There are other members of Treephort and they did play music. I bought one of their CD’s. The CD is entitled …And The Streets Will Run Red With The Blood Of The Nonbelievers.  It has 26 songs and I bought it for $5. It includes songs such as Hey I’m Thirteen Years Old, Hemp Necklace, Eat Blazing Electric Death Bitch, Leprosy Strikes The Supermarket, I’d Rather Be Gay Than Go Out With You Again, My Penis Is Small, Why Do Fat Kids Like Metallica?, and The Streets Will Run Red With The Blood Of The Nonbelievers. Those are just a few of my favorite titles. I haven’t listened to the CD yet and I didn’t really pay that much attention to the music they played on account of the fact that I was watching the crazy guy do crazy shit during the show. After their set, my friends and I went to talk to them outside. They were fully clothed and they were tossing a baseball to each other. My friend asked if they’d be back in New York sometime soon and they said maybe next summer. One of the guys said he’s a high school teacher and I asked if any of his students have been to one of his shows. He said that none of his current students had and he hopes they never do. I asked the crazy guy if he plays an instrument, since he didn’t actually play anything when he was on stage tonight. He pointed to his penis and said that that was his instrument. This Condition was amazing, as usual. I won’t get into detail about them because this post is long enough. Wow, I didn’t mean for this post to be that long.
